Wadars has a small dedicated team supported by many volunteers.

Julie Toben
Director of Development

Julie Toben - Director of Development

For over 20 years, Julie has worked extensively with local, national and international charities and has held interim CEO and director roles. She has been a charity trustee with three charities, including Cats Protection. Julie is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Charity Investors' Group and the Institute of Fundraising.

Tracy Cadman
Operations Manager

Tracy Cadman - Operations Manager

Tracy joined the Wadars team as Operations Manager in January 2016 and is responsible for the day to day running of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming service as well as its community fundraising activity, communications, and volunteer development.

With line management responsibility for a team of six people, Tracy has more than 30 years’ experience of working in charities, including nearly 10 years with the RSPCA in Brighton where she started as an animal care assistant and worked her way up to Shelter Manager.

Billy Elliott
Senior Animal Rescue Officer

Billy Elliot - Senior Animal Rescue Officer

Billy grew up on a farm so has always had a love for animals and has been with Wadars for 18 years. His main responsibilities as an Animal welfare officer is to pick up / collect injured animals, wildlife and take in domestic animals that need re-homing. Even on Billy's days off he can still be found walking rescued dogs and going out on calls from local vets, as well as repairing cars.

Elaine Sinclair
Animal Rescue Officer

Elaine Sinclair - Animal Rescue Officer

Elaine has been involved with Wadars for over 18 years as a volunteer, a Trustee, and as a member of the Animal Welfare Team.

Elaine works part time alongside Billy and has a particular passion for working with our homeless cats, as well as rescuing wildlife.
She also fosters some of our animals.

Bunny Duke

Bunny Duke-Colley - Administrator

Bunny has been on the Wadars team for five years after working in various different admin jobs over the years and has a Countryside Management qualification from Brinsbury College.

She has a keen interest in Wildlife especially birds and loves her job and how rewarding it is.

Sharon Symons
Finance Officer

Sharon Symons - Finance Officer

Sharon has been working for Wadars as a finance officer since May 2011. Prior to this she was a volunteer fosterer with Wadars of rabbits and guinea pigs.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her cat and two dogs, all of whom were adopted from Wadars.

Sophia Wilks - Fundraising & Volunteer Coordinator

Sophia is our newest member of staff, taking over the fundraising & volunteer coordinator role in July 2017.

With a broad range of experience in fundraising and community events, Sophia will lead the small army of volunteers that Wadars relies on to raise vital funds and embrace community cohesion.

Sophia has a love of Scouting, archery, rugby and all things adventurous. Sophia has an equally fun-loving Tibetan Terrier called Mako!

Our Board of Trustees

Christie McMahon FCL (Chairman)

Christie is a fellow of the institute of Sales and Marketing management, after starting her own company in 1993.
With her love of animals, she has adopted and fostered 51 Great Danes over the past 39 years.

Allison Davis (Treasurer)

Allison worked as a Financial Controller/Management accountant mainly in the Motor trade and now works part time locally for a stationery company.
Allison is extremely proud of the work the staff and volunteers do to rescue and re-home animals, that have gone on to have the loving forever homes they deserve. Her very spoilt pets are her minature Schnauzer Harry aged 3 and her grand old lady cat Purdy aged 20.

Mike Francis (Secretary)

Mike is now retired after working in the IT department of a Global Financial services company for many years.
Mike has two rescue cats from Wadars, brothers of about 8 years old after they were left on the Wadars doorstep around Christmas 2012.

Tracy Rhodes BVSc (Hons) MRCVS

Tracy graduated from Bristol vet school in 1998 and has been working in West Sussex since that time.
She shares her home with two cats and a tortoise, all adopted during her working days.

Jill Silk

Jill has been a Wadar Trustee for 2 years and has been involved with the Charity since 2008. She is now retired having worked in the Corporate management world for over 30 years.
Having a life long love of animals, Jill has shared her home over the years with 13 cats, many rehomed from Wadars, various rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish and her 11 year old Golden Retriever, Molly.

Keith Walder

Keith has been a Trustee with Wadars for several years and has been working with animals for over 30 years.
Dogs are a huge passion to Keith, especially dogs with Jobs; he has trained dogs for shepherding and search and rescue.
